The Malaysian operations were started in 1991 with Sadec Pelangi as the flagship company providing business consultancy services. The second operation was commenced in 1993 with the formation of Sadec Malaysian Consortium, to provide investment and trade promotion services between Malaysia and Vietnam.
Over the years, the Malaysian operations have expanded to include, inter alia, specialist financial services, investment co-financing arrangement, capital market activities and venture management. The expanded service base has spawned the formation of additional companies within the Group to undertake these business activities.
As part of a regional restructuring exercise carried out by the Group, the various Malaysian businesses have been rationalised between the Malaysian companies, and a new holding company, namely Sadec Asia Pacific, was established to hold these investments. Sadec Asia Pacific is earmarked to cover businesses in the Asia Pacific region, while Sadec Australia will cover the other global markets. The restructuring exercise was completed in February 1996.
